Rutherford County crime

A 32-year-old Old Hickory man is facing a slew of drug-related charges after the Murfreesboro Police Department and Rutherford County Sheriff's Department participated in a joint operation.

Reginald T. Womack, 32, of Old Hickory was charged in connections with series of overdoses that took place across Middle District involving fentanyl-laced heroin.

During the course of the months-long investigation, Special Agents with the Drug Investigation Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and Tactical Diversion Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with officers from MPD, RCSO and the Metro Nashville Police Department conducted undercover operations.

Through leads that they pursued on the distribution of fentanyl-laced heroin, authorities developed information that identified one of the distributors of the potentially deadly drug combination as Womack.

On Friday afternoon, Womack was arrested and charged with one count of Manufacturing/Delivery/ Sale/Possession of Schedule I. He was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $175,000 bond.

At this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
