A Maury County man wanted for murder of a 2-year-old child was captured by Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies about 3 p.m. Thursday at Lowe’s in Murfreesboro, said Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh.

Timothy Lee Brooks Jr., 22, of Columbia was taken into custody by Deputy Joey Vann and Lt. Kenneth Barrett.

Maury County officials are on the way to pick up Brooks from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Deputies received information Wednesday night Brooks may be located in Rutherford County and began searching for him in the Eagleville area.

Vann spotted the vehicle described as the one Brooks was driving on Bridge Avenue. He followed him as he drove on Old Fort Parkway and parked at Lowe’s.

“He was ordered out and taken into custody without incident,” Vann said.

Barrett said Vann did a good job in arresting Brooks.

Sgt. Bryant Gregory said day shift deputies received information Brooks was in Eagleville and obtained a description of the clothes he was wearing and his vehicle.

“We were in the right place at the right time,” Gregory said.
