Murfreesboro’s CityTV has again been recognized nationally for quality government television programming.
Murfreesboro’s government-oriented television station received national awards during the 33rd annual Government Programming Awards presented by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA). The winners were announced during a gala Thursday, Aug. 30 in Philadelphia.
Murfreesboro’s CityTV brought home First Place awards in NATOA’s category for “Library” for “Linebaugh Library” program produced by Michael Nevills and in the category for Use of Social Media (YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter) in which the entire department staff contributed to the platforms and city website.
Murfreesboro’s CityTV also received a Third Place award in the category for “Arts and Entertainment” for “Bradley Elementary Drums Program” produced by Steve Burris. CityTV also earned a Third Place award for promoting the “Special Census” campaign in 2017.
Honorable Mention awards were presented in the “Children/Young Adults” category for “Adventures in Murphry’s Burrow,” produced by Nancy Phillips and edited by John Padgett and in the category for “Public Education” for “Preventing Pipes From Freezing,” produced by John Padgett.
NATOA received more than 880 entries submitted by local governments across the country. The awards program honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. A national trade association based in Alexandria, Virginia, NATOA represents local government jurisdictions and consortiums, including elected and appointed officials and staff, who oversee communications and cable television franchising.
“The CityTV team continues to bring home awards with professional work that reflects positively on the City of Murfreesboro,” said Communications Director Alan Bozeman. “Continued recognition by NATOA amid national competition should make all of us proud.
CityTV can be viewed on Comcast cable channel 3 and 1094, AT&T’s U-Verse channel 99, Roku, YouTube, Facebook, the City website, and coming soon to Apple TV.
