On Saturday, Sept. 8, your local public safety agencies will square off against one another in a softball tournament benefitting Relay for Life of Rutherford County.

“Life Savers Battle of the Boro” will take place at the Old Fort Park Softball field beginning at 9:00 am.

The inaugural event, originally entitled “Guns n Hoses,” has expanded not only to include Murfreesboro Police & Fire Rescue Departments, but also the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services, Rutherford County Fire Rescue, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

All proceeds for the event will be donated to Relay for Life of Rutherford County and will assist with local efforts to raise money for cancer research through the American Cancer Society.

“The Sheriff’s Office team anticipates friendly competition with our fellow emergency responders,” said Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh. “We hope residents will cheer on their favorite team and support Relay for Life of Rutherford County.”

“This is a fun event every year,” said Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Chief Mark Foulks. “We are excited to add new teams and players into the mix. While MFRD admittedly enjoys winning, the true winners are those who benefit from the proceeds.”

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for kids ages five and under. Concessions will be available.
