Randy Allen recently announced his plans to enter the race for Rutherford County Mayor.

Allen’s family has resided in Rutherford County for over 40 years. He, and his wife Cynthia, are both MTSU alums and have a history of community service. Over the years, Allen has worked in different business sectors that span retail and manufacturing, management, small business job creation, workforce development and most recently a stint in the non-profit arena with United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.

“I believe that putting the interests of Rutherford County residents first is paramount to resolving many of our potential long-term problems,” Allen said about why he is running for office.

Regarding the issues that matter most to Rutherford County residents, Allen ranks infrastructure, education and good jobs among his top priorities.

“In my experience, all three of these are big factors that will determine our ability to be competitive for future opportunities and to strategically manage growth in Rutherford County,” Allen said.

He believes that a government’s primary role is to protect its citizens and enable them to succeed. If elected Rutherford County Mayor, Allen plans to listen first then act to build consensus on solutions in Rutherford County.

Early voting begins on April 11 while election day for the Republican primary will be May 1.
