Music Spotlight: Tyler Reese Tritt

When I received information about Tyler Reese Tritt, I knew she belonged to someone famous (Travis Tritt is her dad). But what mattered to me was whether she could sing.

The answer is a resounding “yes.” Tyler Reese sings as naturally as many of us breathe. She told me that her dad got her the Disney Princess videos when she was a tot, and her mother reports she would run around the house in her diaper singing “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

She recorded in a studio for the first time when she was 14. Tyler and her dad covered the song, “Sometimes Love Ain’t Enough” a song originally made popular by Don Henley and Patty Smyth. It was evident to all involved that Tyler had a gift.

And while it was always in the back of her mind to possibly pursue music, the first time she sang on stage, it solidified the idea.

She recalled, “I had done dance competitions, so being in a crowd or being on stage wasn't anything new to me. But being on stage singing was a lot different than being on stage dancing. I was so nervous that I could not stop shaking. I just had the one song, but by the time I walked off the stage, it was such a feeling, I just can't describe. It was such a rush and just adrenaline and excitement. And I was just like, I just played my first show. I’m so excited and I come off stage and Dad's crying, all the band members are crying and I'm like, hey, guys did I mess up that bad? And they're like, no, we’ve just seen you since you were just little and now, you're all grown and playing.”

It was after that time she decided that she wanted a music career. However, once she graduated from high school, she wasn’t ready to tour because she didn’t have enough music yet. Tyler learned piano and guitar and took voice lessons as she honed her craft. She advised, “My voice is my instrument so I might as well perfect it as much as I can.”

Five years ago, Tyler put out the song “Perfect” a song which dreamily paints a picture of a perfect moment in time during her senior year in high school. It is about a time in her life that can never be recreated but will always be remembered fondly.

Now at age 25, Tyler Reese has begun releasing more original new music, with her first song, “Porch Light,” a tune that admonishes a cheating partner. The song starts with a line from her dad’s song, “Here’s a quarter, call someone who cares” and the video features actor/singer/songwriter and pal Rob Mayes as her antagonist. With words like This house went dark/ like your cold black heart/ no shadows in the window, oooh wherever you are/ It won’t take too long/ for you to see I’m gone/ when you come sneaking home and there’s no porch light on the song is as country as you can get. The girl isn’t heartbroken. She’s furious. (Which is way worse as any guy knows.)

Now her latest single, “Texas Hold Him” shows a softer side as she reflects on a lost love that can’t be rekindled. Written by Jaida Dreyer and Melissa Peirce, and produced by Alex Kline, "Texas Hold Him" showcases Tyler Reese's extraordinary talent and her ability to convey a story through her music.

And even though she did not write it, the female-written and produced song is very personal to Tyler. “When they sent me the song, I was going through a breakup. We were young and some people say that doesn’t count, but he did rodeos and moved to Texas. I went back to see if we could work things out.”

The pair decided that they were better off as friends, so when she was sent the song, she knew she had to record it. The words Texas, hold him and keep him under your sky/ 'Cause I'm leaving and I'm needing all the help I can get tonight/ If he follows, won't you slow him down/ 'Cause if I see his face I know I'll turn around/ Don't you let him go 'til I get to where I'm going/ Texas hold him, yeah ring as true as if she had written them herself.

When she sings “Texas Hold Him” with her strong clear vocals, her sincerity shines, and you feel the emotion as strongly as she does.

She stated, “This song holds a special place in my heart as it beautifully captures the emotions and challenges of moving forward while leaving a piece of your heart behind. It's a heartfelt anthem that speaks to anyone who has ever had to make the difficult choice of pursuing their dreams.”

The thing I like best about Tyler Reese Tritt is that she gets it. She has been blessed with a God-given talent and she uses it doing what she knows best, real country music. There is no wondering to which genre her music belongs. You know because she knows and thankfully, she shares her gift with us.

While the Georgia girl loves touring on her own, there is nothing more special to her than getting to sing with her dad, Travis Tritt. Her brothers play too, and mom is always there. It’s a family affair and it’s her favorite.

Despite her rising fame, Tyler remains grounded in her hometown of Power Springs, Georgia. When she is not mesmerizing audiences with her powerhouse vocals, she cherishes quality time with her family and friends, indulging in outdoor activities like horseback riding and swimming.

Tyler Reese Tritt is currently working on new music (including a duet!) and is touring this fall doing several shows with her dad.

You can keep with her on her websiteInstagramFacebook, and all streaming platforms. Stream “Texas Hold Him” today.
