The annual Rutherford County Christmas Tree Lighting was held Friday evening, Dec. 3, 2021, on the east side of the Public Square. 

Organized by Main Street Murfreesboro and executed by Murfreesboro City Parks and Recreation, the historic Rutherford County Courthouse was lit by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who were then available for photos with their fans. 

Emcees "Big D & Bubba" from 103.3 Country entertained the crowd and kept the program going until Santa arrived to switch on the lights. Toys were collected for the Child Advocacy Center and Boys and Girls Club thanks to sponsor Murfreesboro Nissan.

Kids' activities included live reindeer, and food trucks throughout the night.
