Murfreesboro Police: Likely IED explodes in student apartment

At approximately 4:11 a.m. Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to reports of a possible explosion that may have been caused by some type of improvised explosive device at the Vie Apartments, 1345 Wenlon Dr., according to a press release.

As a result, there is minor damage to an apartment unit. There are no reports of injuries at this time. 

The Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross is now on scene supporting the command and investigator. Red Cross is feeding the impacted residents and investigators on scene.

The area has been cordoned off and part of an apartment building has been evacuated as a precaution. Multiple agencies are on scene investigating.

No other info has been released.
