In today’s cricket news, we will discuss India’s upcoming Test series team. This will be the first home series of India’s Test Captain Shubman Gill. Talking about his recent form in the recently concluded Test series in England, he made 700+ runs and created many records. The series ended 2-2.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared Team India’s Test squad for the upcoming Test series in October 2025. Now, Team India is ready for the upcoming home series. The first Test match against WI is all set to be played at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad, on October 2, 2025, followed by 2nd Test at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, Delhi, on October 10.

Shubman Gill (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, N Jagadeesan (WK), Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav.
Rishabh Pant was not picked due to injury during the England Test series. Ravindra Jadeja is appointed as vice captain. Many players from the previous tour earned their place, but Karun Nair has not been selected. Chief selectors Ajit Agarkar said during the press conference, “We expect more from Karun Nair in England. It cannot be about one innings. Devdutt Padikkal provides more options to us. We wanted to give at least 15-20 chances to every player, but it is not possible every time.”
The wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel is most likely to play in place of Rishabh Pant. Jurel performed well in the past for India. In the final Test at the Oval, he impressed all with his amazing wicketkeeping skills. This will be a great opportunity for him to grab the chance with both hands and confirm his place in India’s Test squad.
Pace bowler Arshdeep Singh was not picked, while Prasidh Krishna obtained his place, and Jasprit Bumrah was also selected in the squad. Before the selection, he also expressed his availability.
In the spin bowling department, India has very good bowlers like Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar. In the Indian pitch, all these spinners are going to play a key role in the series.

Ravindra Jajeja scored 516 runs in the Test Series vs England in 2025 and proved why he is the number 1 all-rounder in the world with his excellent performance.
Jaiswal plays an aggressive brand of cricket; on the other hand, Rahul gives reliability.
In the middle order, players like Gill and other quality players might play a key role in the upcoming Test series.
