Murfreesboro resident Gabriel Fancher has announced his candidacy for the  new 13th District of the Tennessee House of Representatives. Fancher is an English teacher at Holloway High School in Murfreesboro and a local real estate agent. He has been a teacher since 2008 where he first served as an adjunct faculty member at several local colleges before becoming a public school teacher in 2020. He previously worked as the Business Program Director with Daymar College in Nashville, and went on to serve as the Program Director for the Political Economy Research Institute at Middle Tennessee State University.

“Rutherford County is blessed to have strong leaders fighting for our shared conservative values. We need to elect another trusted, conservative leader to represent our community in Nashville. I’m a teacher, a local business owner, and a proud father of seven children. I’m not a politician, but I have been involved in politics and pushing for many years to make sure the people elected do the right thing for their constituents. When elected I will work hard to represent the conservative values of the district and build consensus that will make Tennessee and Rutherford County the best place to live, work, and raise our families,” said Fancher.

“I will work tirelessly everyday to improve the lives of the people I am elected to represent. I know that we all want and need strong schools, better infrastructure, safe neighborhoods and a business friendly economy. I will work with other state leaders to make sure that the quality of life we all enjoy remains in place here in Rutherford County,” he added.

“I believe parents should have the final say in their children’s education. As a public school teacher in a school of choice, I understand the importance of providing parents and students opportunities to the education of their choice. I will always protect the rights of parents to decide what is best for their children,” he continued.

Fancher, who previously served as chairman of the Rutherford County Young Republicans and secretary of the Rutherford County Republican Party, is a strong supporter of our shared conservative values.

“I will defend the second amendment, stand up for life, and promote fiscal responsibility in Nashville. I will oppose wasteful spending and work to keep Tennessee one of the lowest taxed states in the country. I will fight back against Joe Biden’s D.C. policies that are devastating to Tennessee businesses and our families,” Fancher said.

Fancher is a former diplomat to the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce and a 2020 graduate of Leadership Rutherford. He currently coaches his daughter’s soccer team for the Murfreesboro Soccer Club and has coached boys and girls basketball with One Goal Sports. Fancher completed his undergraduate degree at Western Kentucky University, his M.B.A and Masters of Economics at Middle Tennessee State University.

Fancher is married to Chelsea, also a graduate of MTSU, she is a licensed social worker and Director of Marketing for Senior Helpers. They have seven children in their blended family, Logan, 16, Carly, 15, Collette, 12, Emma, 8, Fiona, 7, MaryCatherine, 5, and Eleanor, 2. On Sundays you can find them at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.

The Republican Primary will be held on August 4th with early voting July 15th through July 30th. The 13th district includes parts of Murfreesboro, LaVergne, Rockvale, Eagleville and Smyrna.
