Must See Movie of the Week: HALLOWEEN (1978)

Must See Movie of the Week is, of course, "HALLOWEEN."

While this is far from a movie I enjoy watching, at my age, it was more or less a horror rite of passage of youth, and the godfather of all slasher movies.

This John Carpenter classic from 1978 stars scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis and follows Michael Myers after he escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again. He was imprisoned for murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963.

Myers was the bogey man in 1978, and continues to wield this evil wrath in 2021 with Halloween Kills, the second installment of a new trilogy in the Halloween universe.

Regardless of how you see the Halloween franchise, it does make your skin crawl. The eerie way Myers walks and never runs, seems to be transfixed at times like a robot who lost his juice, always has a mission, and even falling from space doesn’t kill him.

Over the many years the franchise has been giving us nightmares. The original is the best, and well worth a Halloween night play list while handing out trick or treat candy.

As for the newest installment in the Halloween saga, Halloween Kills 2021. It's not worth the watch, but you tell me if you like it.
