The Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford and Cannon Counties is a jolly way to begin the Christmas Season, CAC's Katie Enzor said.

"I am the newest member of the Child Advocacy Center, and this event lived up to the hype," she said. "The food was amazing, but I really enjoyed the chocolate room. The Child Advocacy Center is surrounded with community support all throughout the year. Events are well attended, sponsors are incredibly generous, and Rutherford County is a community that loves its children."

The 20th annual Holiday Open House was held Friday, Dec. 6 at the Center located at 1040 Samsonite Blvd., Murfreesboro. The board of directors, staff, and volunteers cordially invited the community to join them for the buffet luncheon.

The Child Protective Investigative Team members were the honorees of the event and included the Rutherford County Department of Children's Services, Murfreesboro Police Department, Smyrna Police Department, La Vergne Police Department, Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney's Office for the 16th Judicial District, Rutherford County Juvenile Court Youth Services, Our Kids Center, and the Guidance Center.

"Some of the very best people in Rutherford County work child abuse cases. They are the people in the trenches every day responding to calls for help, investigating the crime, aggressively prosecuting sex offenders, and helping kids heal from the trauma," Child Advocacy Center director Sharon De Boer said. "The Child Advocacy Center hosts this annual event to show the Child Protective Investigative Team how much they are appreciated by the Child Advocacy Center and the children and families that they work their hearts out to help every year."

The buffet luncheon was provided courtesy of Five Senses, Papa Murphy's on Old Fort Parkway, Phi Delta Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and the Child Advocacy Center Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers.
