It's that time of year for trick-or-treating, haunted houses and all things ghosts and goblins, but the spooky fun can easily turn dangerous if you're not careful. That's why city public safety officials want to make sure you're safe this Halloween.

Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) Officers will be out in force Oct. 31, increasing patrol in neighborhoods, looking for speeders, as well as reckless and impaired drivers.

"We want everyone to have a safe and fun Halloween," said MPD Chief Michael Bowen. "We encourage residents to take the necessary precautions for an enjoyable holiday."

Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) will have crews at several community Halloween events.

"There are several alternatives to going door-to-door," said MFRD Chief Mark Foulks.  "Events like Trick-or-Treat on the Square, Halloween Boo Bash at Stones River Town Centre, and various Trunk and Treat Events at area churches all offer a safe holiday experience in a concentrated area."
