Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department units responded to a house fire around 6:20 Sunday evening at 208 Chamberlain Drive.

Battalion Chief Tim Swann said the call initially came in as a house fire with flames and smoke showing and possible entrapment. Swann says six units responded and a thorough search and rescue effort was executed with no sign of anyone in the home.

The fire, which appears to have started in a back bedroom, was quickly extinguished. Crews learned that the occupants were not home at the time of the incident and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The back bedroom received the most fire damage, but there is smoke and heat damage throughout.

The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to investigate. More information will be released as it becomes available.
