The Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation Department invites the public to Chocolate Hike, Underwater Egg Hunt, March 24, Citywide Easter Egg Hunt, March 31.

Chocolate Hike, Saturday, March 24 --Wilderness Station, 2:30 p.m.

Come out and hike for chocolate on Saturday, March 24.

Early spring can still be cool, but it’s worth a hike when chocolate is involved. Join us at the Wilderness Station at 2:30 p.m. to learn about sustainable chocolate practices and how important it is for our migratory birds.

First, enjoy a naturalist-led hike on our backcountry trails as we discover several Tennessee birds that need good habitat in Central America so they can return to us.

Follow Flute, a wood thrush, on the story trail and finally end at a warm fire where hot chocolate and all the chocolaty treats you can handle will be waiting. Partake in a game to see if you will survive as a migratory bird. Warm up and refuel – just like our bird friends - before hiking back to the Wilderness Station on the paved trails.

The hike will be 2 ½ miles total.

The fee for the program is $3 and is for ages 8 and up. Reservation is required. For more information, please contact Lauren Hughes, 615-217-3017, lhughes@murfreesborotn.gov.
